Vogue India - April 2013

Shabnam Melwani-Reis, 44, may be a mother of two-boys aged on and 10--but that doesn't mean she's ready to compromise on her style. "I have mastered the art of walking in heels and carrying a baby," she jokes. Fashion comes into play in every aspect of her life including work, where she oversees a lifestyle business that manages the brands like Giuseppe Zanotti in Singapore. She also recently launched her own brand of accessories, Sun Moon Rain, which creates bracelets from semi-precious stones and charms chosen for their healing or spiritual properties.

A self-professed local, Melwani-Reis has a casual, chic look shapes by Singapore-she loves leather shorts, super-soft tees and sky-high wedges. Since the birth of her second son, however, her style has evolved. "Before, I was stuck in this box of fashion, where i lived by a group of designers that I loved", she explains. "Then everything changed-I dress for how I feel rather than what the brand represents. On weekends, I love going to boho with crochet pieces from Isabel Marant; and when I'm feeling edgy, I bring out my Balmain jacket. I like to inject fun with prints by Christopher Kane or Mary Katrantzou."

Although international brands dominate her wardrobe, her Indian roots are suitably represented. "I love Malini Ramani and Rohit Bal. I usually wear Indian clothes on special occasions, although if I go traditional I always fuse it with something Western. It base to be a part who I am now as well as my culture."
