Balance is something you create and not something you find

I believe that Balance is not something you find, but something you create. In my yoga practice, it has been an incredible and challenging journey to work towards creating that balance within myself not just physically in my Asanas (poses), but especially mentally and spiritually through my Pranayama (regulation of the breath) and Meditation practices.

In my life here in Singapore (as with most of us I'm sure), I am constanty being faced with the challenges of maintaining that balance to be the best and present Mom that I can be to my two special boys to create a loving and nurturing home for them, going to the office to work my financial brain in my family business responsibilities, tapping into my creative side with SunMoonRain, being a good friend, making the time to give back to causes I believe in and at the same time trying to carve out much needed alone time for myself to pursue my passions or to just be. I must say that I would not be able to do this without the support of my family (especially my sisters & sons) and few close friends, who are really are my anchor, always there to help and guide me when I hit my walls, which happens more often than I would like! And that is something I am so thankful for.

So it was very timely that I received this wonderful inspiring message on my recent birthday from my dearest beautiful friend, DK, which she said was inspired by my handstand pose that I posted last month where I talked about my learning at the  Vikasa Yoga Retreat in Koh Samui that balance & strength are a state of mind that is expressed physically.

"Balance is key in everything you do. Dance all night long & practice yoga the next day. Drink wine but don’t forget your green juice. Eat chocolate with you heart and kale salad when your body needs it. Wear high heels on Saturday and walk barefoot on Sunday. Love high and low. Move and stay still. Embrace all sides of who you are. Be brave, bold, spontaneous and loud and let that compliment your abilities to find silence, patience, modesty and peace. Aim for balance. Make your own rules and follow your own path and don’t let anybody tell you how to live according to theirs!”

This came at just the perfect time, and a much needed reminder for me & for most of us, so thank you. Just love it and its so true!

I also know that my recent efforts to simplify my life and to focus on my priorities has been essential in this process of finding that balance for me.

Do you face challenges in your life in balancing so many different thing you have to do? I would love to hear how you overcome your hurdles here.

This picture of me in a head-stand variation was taken on another little special beach that the Alila Purnama boat took us to last month. You can see a glimpse of this beautiful traditional boat on the top right of this picture too. Thank you Mad Lotus  for the super cute Onzie shorts & top that I'm wearing from your fabulous site that I love shopping on for my yoga gear _/|\_
